During roof work at Royal Lodge mansion, Prince Andrew refuses to leave for fear King Charles will not let him back in

Since King Charles hopes he will leave the mansion, Prince Andrew is refusing to leave the Royal Lodge during roof repair works.

Duke of York refuses to downsize to smaller Frogmore Cottage as part of plans to slim down the monarchy despite his older brother’s plans.

While the roof of the Royal Lodge is being repaired, he is afraid the King will boot him out if he moves there even temporarily.

The situation has become farcical. Andrew is set to undergo roof repairs later this summer, which will take several months. Staying in the house during those renovations may prove problematic, a source told The Mail.

He is reluctant to leave, however.”

The Buckingham Palace did not respond to a request for comment.

The roof repairs are scheduled for later this summer, with Andrew paying for them.

Since the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, the duke has no official duties and lives with his ex-wife at the Royal Lodge.

The King is believed to prefer that he move to Frogmore, where Harry and Meghan lived. It is understood they hold the tenancy until July.

With her husband and two children, Princess Eugenie lives there with Andrew’s daughter.

If the duke were to leave the Royal Lodge, it might be given to the Prince of Wales, who lives in Adelaide Cottage nearby.

Private tenants could also rent the mansion.

“They originally wanted Andrew to leave Royal Lodge so that the property could be renovated and prepared for new lodgers,” said another source.

However, he is adamant that he will not leave his home since he has so much time left on his lease and spent millions from his own fortune doing it up.

“He feels very strongly, perhaps with some justification, that they are suddenly moving the goalposts and it is incredibly unfair.

As Harry and Meghan were paying for a property they didn’t use, it was clearly convenient for them to leave Frogmore.

Andrew’s home is Royal Lodge.”
